Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle was the artistic director for the opening ceremony and the music directors were Rick Smith and Karl Hyde of the electronic music duo Underworld.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his status to 'married' on Saturday afternoon.
