$157,000 Sheene superbike The world’s most expensive bikes have got another contender with Icon Sheene, the ultimate road bike by motorcycle designer and builder Andrew Morris. The bike was designed as a tribute to the legendary British motorcycle racer Barry Sheene, and is produced in a limited edition of just 52, one for each year of Barry’s life. The bike is totally handcrafted and it features a powerful 1.4-liter, turbocharged, inline 4-cylinder engine that gives a top speed of 200 mph.
Other highlights include a custom made tubular aluminum frame including a fuel tank formed from hand-beaten aluminum, which takes around a month to fabricate, and the bodywork is made up of hand-laid carbon fiber panels. The other details include etched and engraved plaques and yokes, a hand-painted 1940s style pin-up girl and Sheene’s lucky No.7 embroidered into the heart-shaped alcantara bum-stop.
Each bike was developed over a five-year period and adorns a price tag of approx. $157,000. The superbike will be ridden up the hill at next month’s (July 2-4) Goodwood festival of Speed by Barry Sheene’s son, Freddie.
